    1972

Oh No Love, You're Not Alone!

A pre-pubescent boy hearing Bowie for the first time on his best friend's record player — oh no love, you're not alone! That optimistic declaration from Bowie's Rock'n'Roll Suicide stays with him for years while he wrestles with his inner female, feeling isolated and unique in a puritanical world.

    1973 to 1982

A Crash Course For the Ravers

He takes up guitar and writes songs, graduating from an out of control vocalist through playing bass in a new wave band to lead vocals and rhythm in a rebellious post punk gothic inception. Plenty of Saturdays, if not all driven into!

     1983 to 1994

    Modern Love Walks On By

Chastened by experience, his alter ego is packed away as family life and commitments beckon. Church on time definitely terrified…

    1995 to 2015

    Strangers When We Meet

Creativity resurfaces. A fine artrock band in the UK, followed by some acclaim as a songwriter after a move to Sydney. But something, or someone, is still missing.

    2016 to 2023

    Dollar Days

Fool them all again and again — he becomes a she. After Bowie dies, tributes flow, including from Tina, finally acknowledged and liberated. Private parties performing as Tina Martini's ‘Androgyne Genie’ show. The pandemic both disables and enables — limited performances and results in a hiatus, but plenty of time to build a massive Bowie repertoire - then out and flying as a solo act.

    And Now

TINA MACHINE is Sydney's authentic Bowie tribute band — not a cosplay act, not a scratch lineup, not a pub rock band trotting out his songs. A transgender-fronted live band comprised of superb musicians, playing Bowie's music with real instruments, expertise and sensitivity, TINA MACHINE can “take you anywhere.” To diehard fans, David Bowie isn't dead — the Starman is there, waiting in the sky. TINA MACHINE evokes his spirit in both Sound and Vision, reflecting and celebrating his pioneering contributions to diversity, and opening the portal for us to give ourselves permission to be whoever and whatever we want to be. Oh no love, you're not alone!
